Pattern: £5 (+ VAT)
These stranded colourwork socks are knit toe-up, with a traditional flap and gusset, with a striped toe and corrugated ribbing.
The instructions for the construction of the socks are all written, the colourwork pattern is only charted.
Sizes (measured around mid-foot)
- Small – 7″ (17.75cm)
- Medium – 8″ (20.25cm)
- Large – 9″ (22.75cm)
Yarn Requirements
4ply (fingering weight) sock yarn in contrasting colours.
For all sizes I would suggest 100g of main colour; for the contrast you should be fine with just 50g.
The sample was made using a solid Regia 4 ply sock yarn (01991 – Light Grey Marl) for the main colour, and a semi-solid Fine Sock (Underground) from the fabulous indie dyers Life in the Long Grass (LITLG) for the contrast – its subtle variation, combined with a well contrasting solid, meant that the pattern still shows well. I would recommend staying with a solid for the main colour, but feel free to play around with your choice for the contrast.
