Pattern: £4.50 (+ VAT)
This classic design uses only knit and purl stitches to create an interesting spiralling effect, with the socks being mirror images of each other. It was originally designed for my husband who doesn’t like his socks too fussy, but it has enough interest to stop you being bored while you make it. It works well with plain, tonal or self-striping yarns.
The pattern is both charted and written and is easily memorised once you’ve started so could easily be knit by a beginner sock knitter.
Sizes (measured around midfoot)
- Small – 7.5 – 9″ (19 – 22.75cm)
- Medium – 8 – 11” (20.25 – 28cm)
- Large – 9 – 13” (22.75 – 34.25cm)
The pattern makes the sock very stretchy, and some testers have suggested that it would be ideal for anyone who needed a sock that would stay up without being too tight or clingy.
100g of any 4ply (fingering weight) yarn should be suitable. The sample was knit in Tanis Fiber Arts Blue Label fingering weight yarn, Dove colourway.
