When a designer friend shows you her lovely glove pattern and suggests you use the cable for socks, well what do you do but make socks?
These toe-up socks feature a large cable which runs up both sides of the foot and is then reflected in the back of the leg. If you’re braver than me, it would be a good candidate for working the cables without a cable needle.
The cable chart instructions are fully written, so you can choose which you prefer.
Sizes – measured around mid-foot
- Small – 7″/17.75cm
- Medium – 8″/20.25cm
- Large – 9″/22.75cm
- Extra Large – 10″/25.5cm
Yarn Requirements
Approx 100g each of 4ply/fingering weight sock yarn. Any that gives gauge should be suitable. For the sample, I used The Fibre Co. Amble in Red Screes.
Please be aware that the lovely yarn I used in the sample has a lower yardage per 100g than some yarns, so for larger feet you may need to use a second skein. For the sample, I used 98g (348 yards/318m) for a 10” (25.5cm) long foot in size M.
